Coded Bias

March 24, 2021 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Join us for a screening of the film Coded Bias and a conversation with filmmaker Shalini Kantayya and Gloria Steinem Chair Naomi Klein on March 24 at 4 PM. Register here. Please feel free to circulate this event to your respective networks.

Coded Bias explores the fallout of MIT Media Lab researcher Joy Buolamwini’s startling discovery that facial recognition does not see dark-skinned faces and women accurately, and her journey to push for the first-ever legislation in the U.S. to govern against bias in the algorithms that impact us all.

Registration is required to access the film and attend the live conversation with Shalini Kantayya and Naomi Klein.

Once you register through Eventbrite, you will receive a passcode to access the film’s watch page.

You may watch the film as many times as you wish between March 17 and March 31.

You will also receive a Zoom link to join the live conversation on March 24 at 4 PM.

Please contact Kylie Davidson (kylie.davidson@rutgers.edu) with any questions.
