Rutgers Women+ in IT’s mission is to empower women and underrepresented groups to reach their potential in all levels of their career. We strive to embrace diversity and to support learning and community through:
- Social, educational, and networking events with the Rutgers community and beyond with a focus on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI);
- Fostering coalition building, collaboration, and supportive relationships for all across Rutgers and the community.
The Women+ in IT group was formed as one of the project teams for the MOR ’18 cohort. After research, faculty interviews, and a staff survey, this team developed recommendations and submitted them as part of their final project in June 2018.
The recommendations included initiating a local Women+ in IT group at Rutgers that would provide resources and opportunities for discussions on the topic. This, in turn, would dovetail with a larger Women+ in IT working group that was initiated as part of the Big Ten Academic Alliance in the Fall of 2018, which each school having representatives from their local group on the larger group.
Further recommendations were submitted for consideration to the MOR Steering committee for the MOR ’19 cohort and beyond.
