A fun day at Rutgers MakerSpace and 16 Handles

Our recent visit to the Rutgers Makerspace was nothing short of inspiring. Organized as part of the Rutgers Women+ in Technology (WIT) group’s summer programming, the tour offered a hands-on glimpse into one of the university’s most innovative spaces for creativity and collaboration.

From the moment we arrived at the Livingston Campus location, the Makerspace team welcomed us with enthusiasm and professionalism. The space itself was buzzing with potential—equipped with tools for 3D printing, laser cutting, and heat pressing, among others. The staff provided a thorough tour, highlighting the capabilities of each station and sharing examples of past projects that sparked ideas for our own.

What made the experience especially engaging was the interactive component. Attendees had the opportunity to personalize and create either a puzzle or a tote bag using their own uploaded images. This added a personal and memorable touch to the visit. The Makerspace team ensured that everyone had the correct image specifications ahead of time and managed the logistics smoothly.

Overall, the Rutgers Makerspace tour was a fantastic blend of learning, creativity, and community. It not only showcased the university’s commitment to innovation but also provided a unique opportunity for our group to connect and create together. We highly recommend this experience to any Rutgers unit or group looking to explore hands-on technology in a welcoming and well-supported environment.
