About Us
Our Mission
Rutgers Women+ in Technology’s mission is to empower women and underrepresented groups to reach their fullest potential at all career levels. We aim to support learning, personal growth, and community through:
- Social, educational, and professional networking events within the Rutgers community and beyond;
-
Fostering coalition building, collaboration, and supportive relationships between members of Rutgers and the broader community, with a focus on celebrating, expanding, and embracing our unique perspectives and differences.
Our Story
The Women+ in Technology group was formed as one of the project teams for the MOR ’18 cohort. After research, faculty interviews, and a staff survey, this team developed recommendations and submitted them as part of their final project in June 2018.
The recommendations included initiating a local Women+ in IT group at Rutgers that would provide resources and opportunities for discussions on the topic. This, in turn, would dovetail with a larger Women+ in Technology working group that was initiated as part of the Big Ten Academic Alliance in the Fall of 2018, which each school having representatives from their local group on the larger group.
Further recommendations were submitted for consideration to the MOR Steering committee for the MOR ’19 cohort and beyond.
